This is my Grandmother Muriel, reacting to the news that I dedicated my most recent novel to her. (Actually, it's a re-enactment, but she swears this is the pose she struck upon hearing the news.) Grandma Muriel is perhaps the most metaphysically-aware person I know. In All This Belongs to Me, Geena's thoughts about the universal mind come from conversations I've had over the years with my grandmother. Once, when I was in college, I was having money problems because I'd overspent, and just when I was getting coaching from a roommate on how to budget, the phone rang. It was Grandma Muriel. She said, "Well, for heaven's sake if you need money all you have to do is call and ask." She's a remarkable woman. Thanks for everything, Grandma.
